We’re proud to be sponsoring Seedy Sunday once again — the UK’s largest community seed swap and a true Brighton institution.
- Date: Sunday, February 1, 2026.
- Time: 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM.
- Location: Brighton Open Market, Marshalls Row, Brighton, BN1 4JU.
Started in 2002, Seedy Sunday was the first seed swap in Britain. And it matters more now than ever. Seed saving protects diversity, resilience, and local knowledge in a world where commercial farming too often pushes uniformity, shelf-life and profit over health and nutrition.
As WWF puts it: “The widespread use of genetically uniform modern crop varieties has caused agricultural crops to lose about 75% of their genetic diversity in the last century.”
When we save seed and grow our own food. We take back a little power. We put health, flavour and biodiversity first – and we share it. That’s real farming. That’s real gardening. And you don’t need an allotment or a farm to be part of it. A windowsill, a balcony, or a few pots of herbs will do just fine.
As guerrilla gardener Ron Finley says:
“Growing your own food is like printing your own money.”
