This Beautiful Idea…

This Co-op Fortnight (22nd June – 5th July), we’re celebrating the power of cooperation. Cooperation isn’t just part of our structure – it’s part of who we are. It’s in the way we work together, support our community and build relationships with growers, producers and customers.

Since 1971, we’ve believed that good food can be a force for positive change. We’re committed to making natural, organic and well sourced food available to as many people as possible, while supporting a food system that is kinder to people and the planet.

In a world that can often feel disconnected, cooperatives offer a better way. One based on shared ownership, mutual support and collective action.
Co-op Fortnight is a chance to celebrate these values and the many co-operatives working every day to create fairer, healthier and more sustainable communities.

Co-operate and we can change the world

From Monday 22 June to Sunday 5 July, co-operatives across the UK will come together to celebrate Co-op Fortnight 2026. This year’s theme, Co-operate and we can change the world, is a simple but powerful reminder of what can happen when people work together for a shared purpose.

Cooperation isn’t just something we talk about for a couple weeks each year – it’s at the heart of everything we do. For over 50 years, we’ve been proving that business can be done differently!  When we pool our skills, ideas and resources, we can build something stronger than any one of us could achieve alone. When people, communities and the planet work together for the common good we can be profitable at no ones expense.

The theme for this year’s Co-op Fortnight comes from This Beautiful Idea, a poem by Tony Walsh that celebrates the cooperative movement and the power of collective action. It’s an inspiring message, and one that feels especially relevant today. In a world facing environmental challenges, economic uncertainty and growing inequality, cooperation offers a practical and hopeful alternative – one built on fairness, democracy and mutual support.

For us, cooperation is closely connected to our mission of making healthy, natural and organic food accessible to everyone. Every product on our shelves, every relationship with our suppliers, and every decision made within our co-operative is guided by a belief that good food should nourish people and planet alike. By supporting responsible producers, championing sustainable farming and working together as a cooperative business, we’re helping to create a food system that is fairer, healthier and more resilient.

This Co-op Fortnight, we’re celebrating not only the wider cooperative movement, but also the customers, members, suppliers and communities who make our cooperative possible.

Because – there’s a better way to shop, eat, live & work
