We’ve always believed that good food should be something everyone can access.
For more than 50 years, we’ve been part of Brighton’s food community. Along the way, we’ve also seen how important local food support has become; from food banks & community food projects to organisations redistributing good food that might otherwise go to waste.
That’s why Infinity Foods proudly supports Whitehawk Foodbank, Mutual Aid Vegan Food Bank and FareShare Sussex & Surrey, helping our customers turn a little extra in their shopping basket into good food for people across Brighton & Hove.
A helping hand for Whitehawk
For more than a decade, Infinity has been a collection point for Whitehawk Foodbank, part of the Trussell network.
It’s a simple thing: a collection point by the door, ready for customers to add something from their basket for someone else. And our customers regularly do just that.
Pulses, rice, pasta, tinned vegetables, sauces, spreads and other cupboard staples all make their way from our shelves into the donation point. Whitehawk Foodbank uses donations to provide nutritionally balanced food to people experiencing crisis in Whitehawk and the wider East Brighton area.
There’s something rather lovely about the simplicity of it. You’re already doing your shopping. You pick up an extra bag of rice or a tin of something useful, pop it in the collection point, and together those little acts of generosity become something much bigger.
The Whitehawk Foodbank has been part of its community since 2015 and has grown into much more than emergency food provision, also offering advice and practical support to people facing difficult times.
Food that works for more people
We’ve also got a collection point for Mutual Aid Vegan Food Bank.
It’s a brilliant example of how our wider community can look after one another.
Mutual Aid Vegan Food Bank provides vegan food and toiletries on a drop-in basis, with no referral needed – and you don’t have to be vegan to receive support. It also provides an important option for people who need food that works with particular dietary requirements.
Again, Infinity is simply one of the places where people can drop off donations. Customers can pick up vegan staples from our shelves and add them to the collection point.
Turning generosity into meals
Our support doesn’t stop at local collection points.
This year, we’ve also donated £578.25 to FareShare Sussex & Surrey: Calculated by FareShare to be equivalent to 2,300 meals.
That’s the impact our community has helped make possible.
FareShare Sussex & Surrey takes good-to-eat surplus food and gets it to charities and community groups across Sussex and Surrey. They currently support hundreds of organisations, from food banks and community fridges to breakfast clubs and community meal projects.
Their work was particularly important over the summer. When schools close, free school meals stop too, putting extra pressure on families already struggling to make ends meet. FareShare’s summer appeal highlights the urgent need to get fresh food to families during the holidays. It’s a good example of why tackling food insecurity isn’t just about handing someone a bag of food. It’s about making sure good food gets where it’s needed, reducing waste along the way, and supporting the local organisations that know their communities best.

For more than 55 years, we’ve seen how access to good food has changed.
One thing hasn’t.
Our belief that everyone deserves access to healthy, nourishing food.
The donations that go into our collection points. The extra tin picked up with the weekly shop. The £578.25 donated to FareShare. None of these things happen in isolation. They’re made possible by people choosing to look after other people.
So, a heartfelt thank you to everyone who has donated through Infinity, and to the brilliant people at Whitehawk Foodbank, Mutual Aid Vegan Food Bank and FareShare Sussex & Surrey who turn that generosity into practical help for people in our community.
And sometimes, it’s as simple as putting a little extra in your basket for someone else.
